Lahore: Robbers shoot shopkeeper
LAHORE: Robbers shot dead a 40-year-old shopkeeper while thieves took away cash and valuables worth millions in five major hits in the city on Wednesday. Later, shopkeeper’s family and local traders staged a protest on College Road and chanted slogans against the police. Township police said three armed men, riding a bike, entered the shop of Muhammad Saeed near Khokhar Chowk around 7:40pm, held him at gunpoint and demanded cash and valuables. When Saeed of Township offered resistance, the suspects opened fire on him and fled empty-handed. Saeed, a father of three, with a single bullet injury was taken to Jinnah Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police shifted the body for autopsy.
Soon after the incident, the heirs of Saeed and traders of nearby markets gathered on College Road and protested against the police for half an hour. They demanded strict action against the culprits.
Thieves broke into the house of Ahmad Usman in EME Housing Society in Chuhng police limits and made off with cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs12 million.
Unidentified people sneaked into the house of Mahboob Bhatti in J–Block Phase-I of the Defence Housing Authority in Defence A police limits and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs2.2 million.
Thieves burgled into the house of Shabbir Husain in FF Block in Defence A police limits and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs3.5 million.
Thieves entered the house of Waqas Sadfar in Faisal Town and took away cash and valuables worth Rs1.8 million.
Unidentified people broke into the house of Shabbir in the Architect Housing Society in Nawab Town police limits and left with cash and valuables worth Rs1.7 million.
