Lahore: School set on fire over ‘blasphemy’
LAHORE: Locals attacked a private school at Karim Park, Shafiqabad, on Wednesday following alleged blasphemous wording in a question paper. The infuriated protesters encircled the Farooqi Girls School and made their forced entry into its premises. The enraged mob also set the school furniture and other goods on fire. They chanted slogans against the school administration and also set a car on fire. Heavy contingents of police rushed to the scene and resorted to firing into the air and baton-charge to disperse the protesters. The protesters alleged that the school administration had put blasphemous wording in the question paper given to their children. They demanded the police register a case against the school administration. Shafiqabad police arrested the school owner Asim Farooqi and registered a case against him under Section 295C.
