Islamabad: Woman arrested for crime of passion
ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested a woman on charges of killing her husband with the help of her young paramour at the Naval Complex, police said on Thursday. According to police, Mohammad Akram, a driver in the Navy, was strangled by her wife Bushra on October 12. Police said Akram and Bushra had developed differences over the latter’s illicit relations with Salman, the brother of her sister-in-law. Bushra, employed at Bahria University, while proceeding to work on October 12 asked her daughter not to wake her father, as he was not feeling well. However, the daughter tried to wake up her father at around 10am to inquire after his health.
When he did not respond she called naval police and with their help immediately shifted Akram to the hospital at Naval Complex where doctors pronounced him dead.
The doctors who examined him found signs of force around the neck area and injuries below the lower abdomen.
The dubious circumstances raised suspicions towards the wife of the victim as her reply to the police interrogation did not satisfy the investigators.
The police also checked the record of the Naval Complex, which showed that Akram had returned home on October 11 at 9am.
Later another man entered the Naval Complex on the pretext of visiting the victim’s home — any person entering naval colony has to first register with security guards at the entrance. However, as he was not carrying identification documents, he was denied entry.
At this, the victim’s wife came over to the entry point of the Complex and took him to her house on a personal responsibility. The man exited from the Naval Complex in the early hours of October 12.
Over the disclosure the investigators picked up the 42–year–old Bushra, who confessed that she strangled her husband along with her lover. She also confessed that she had developed illicit relations with Salman.
Although she being a mother of six children, claimed that she made the 22-year-old Salman her son, but her husband got suspicious over her relations and used to scold her and would ask her to sever the relationship.
However, the man frequently visited her and she also went outside with him, which was in the knowledge of the victim.
Again the victim reprimanded her, which eventually annoyed her and resultantly she made a plan to get rid of him. She mixed sleeping pills in her husband’s tea on October 11, when he returned home.
When her husband fell unconscious, she called her young paramour to the house and strangled him. After the confession, the woman was produced in the court of magistrate, where she recorded her statement and was shifted to jail on judicial remand. The police also arrested her accomplice. Names of the victims and accused have been changed to hide their identities.
