Karachi: 2 MQM men slain; 4 bodies found
KARACHI: The spree of target killings continued in the city as two activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were among the six people murdered in various Thursday incidents The bullet–riddled body of 25-year-old MQM activist Kashif was found from the Eidgah police limits. The corpse was taken to the Civil Hospital, where a medico–legal officer (MLO) said that the body bore signs of torture and the victim had been killed with a single bullet to the skull. Sub–Divisional Police Officer of Eidgah, Pervaz Iqbal, confirmed that the victim was an activist of the MQM and also the brother of the notorious Javed Kala, a member of the banned Ahle–SunnatWalJamaat (ASWJ). He added that Kashif was a resident of the same area in which his body was discovered.
Another killed in Eidgah
Thirty-year-old Qamar Hussain was murdered by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle near the Aurangzeb Colony while he was going towards his office.
The police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital, where an MLO said the victim had been shot three times. Empty bullet–casings were recovered at the scene of the crime and sent for forensics tests.
Trouble was witnessed in the Eidgah area after the killings and armed men forced shopkeepers to close their businesses. Police said that the deceased was a resident of Ram Swami.
MQM activist’s body found
The bullet-riddled body of 27-year-old Rashid was found packed in a gunny bag between the Tibet Center and Radio Pakistan in the Preedy police limits.
A passer-by saw blood pooling around the bag and informed the police, who took the body to the Civil Hospital for an autopsy. An MLO at the medical facility said that there were some torture marks on the corpse and the victim was killed with three bullets.
The police said the deceased was an activist of the MQM and a resident of the Usmanabad Garden.
The body of an unidentified man appearing to be in his mid-twenties was found near the Gulbai area of Shershah.
An MLO at the Civil Hospital said there were torture marks on the body and the man had been shot five times.
Meanwhile, another bullet–riddled body a man, also appearing to be in his mid-twenties, was recovered from the Sherpao Colony of Landhi in the Quaidabad police jurisdiction. An eyewitness informed the police, who shifted the body to the JPMC.
The police believed that unidentified gunmen made the victim stand up against a wall and sprayed him with bullets before fleeing on their motorcycles. The police seized 9MM bullet casings from the crime scene.
Also, the body of an unidentified 22–year–old man with a cracked skull was found near Ram Swami in the NabiBakhsh police jurisdiction.
