Lahore: Girl killed in accident, family alleges murder
LAHORE: An 18-year-old girl was killed on Thursday after reportedly being hit by a truck in the Yakki Gate police area while her family alleged she was murdered. Police have impounded the truck and arrested the accused driver. The victim was identified as Sidra, a resident of Dogaig Colony. According to a police duty officer, Sidra was going to take medicine with her relative Jamil on a bike when she fell from the bike after her shawl entangled in a wheel of the bike. She was run over and killed by a speeding truck, he said. She was rushed to a local hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. However, her family has termed the incident a planned murder. The victim’s mother Maqboolan Bibi said that the family of a local named Kashif had proposed her daughter’s marriage with one Kashif but they refused.
On the day of incident, their relative Jamil took Sidra to doctor for checkup but after some hours, Jamil said that she had met an accident, Maqboolan said, adding that there was no mark of Dopatta (shawl) on Sidra’s neck, neither Jamil sustained any injury.
Sidra’s brother-in-law Bilal said that Jamil’s bike was also not damaged in the incident which implied that the incident had been concocted.
A police official said that they were investigating the incident keeping in view all aspects and further action would be taken according to the law. The body has been removed to morgue.
