Peshawar: 4 cops, IB man sent to jail
PESHAWAR: A local court on Thursday sent four policemen and an official of Intelligence Bureau to judicial lockup over robbery charge. Assistant director of Intelligence Bureau Yousaf Raza, assistant sub–inspector Noor Islam and constables Waseem, Shahzad and Kaleem were produced before judicial magistrate Zahid Alam by officials of Paharipura police station on completion of their two days physical custody. They, however, denied the charge of looting currency dealer Arshad Ali, from Mardan, on Peshawar–Islamabad Motorway.
Investigation officer of the case Zahid Alam said police had recovered some looted money from the arrested men and had also been searching for their five accomplices. The charge against these people is that they wearing official uniform stopped currency dealer Arshad Ali, from Mardan, on Peshawar–Islamabad Motorway a few days ago and took him to Wapda Colony on GT Road. According to it, they looted local and foreign notes valuing Rs10 million and cellphone at gunpoint and fled. Paharipura police later registered an FIR against the robbers.
