Bhakkar: 4 cops booked for releasing PO after bribe
BHAKKAR: The Anti–Corruption Establishment registered a case against an inspector, an ASI and two constables on the charge of releasing a proclaimed offender after receiving bribe. Head Constable Abdul Rahman had arrested Abdul Razzaq of Dera Ismail Khan, a proclaimed offender, at the Shakarwala police post and handed him over to Haiderabad SHO Muhammad Iqbal who kept him in custody for two days. Later, the PO’s relatives contacted the SHO and secured his release after allegedly giving him Rs 80,000.
Later, the CIA arrested the proclaimed offender from Jhang Road, Bhakkar. A report was forwarded to IG Punjab Haji Habib ur Rehman and the Sargodha RPO and Bhakkar SSP Saifullah Khan Khattak. DSP Headquarters Zahid Hussain Naqvi was appointed the inquiry officer who found the officers guilty. All the accused have been suspended and arrested. When contacted, the Bhakkar SSP said that the accused would be terminated from service if found guilty.
