Islamabad: Eunuchs deprived of Rs 3.2m by gunmen
ISLAMABAD: A gang of five gunmen looted eunuchs walking on a road in the jurisdiction of the Shahzad Town Police Station, taking away Rs3.2 million after holding them at gunpoint in the wee hours of Wednesday. The national leader of eunuchs, Almas Bobby, when contacted, said that a ceremony was arranged by the community on the birthday of a eunuch, Akri, at the Shehnai Shadi Hall, located at the Commercial Market in front of the New Town Police Station on Tuesday night. Eunuchs from all over the country attended the ceremony.
“Such ceremonies are arranged by the community as a tradition with the purpose to help poor eunuchs of the country and every eunuch puts maximum contribution,” Bobby said and added that the ceremony continued till the wee hours of Wednesday.
Almas Bobby said that after the conclusion of the ceremony, Akri, along with a ‘Chaila’, two males and a driver left the venue in a car for home at Shakrial with four bags full of currency notes, which Akri collected as gift money.
“As they reached a service road near Fatima Clinic falling in the jurisdiction of the Shahzad Town Police Station, a Toyota Corolla car, bearing registration number IDN–7574, intercepted them by blocking their way,” Almas Bobby, quoting the statement of Akri, said, adding that four to five armed robbers came out of the car and took positions around their car, pointing their guns at them. The gunmen snatched all four moneybags and sped away, Bobby said.
Bobby, as a representative of eunuchs of the country, demanded Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani-Amin Khan to immediately arrest the culprits and recover the looted money.
