Lahore: School owner gets bail
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday allowed post-arrest bail to Asim Farooqi, owner of a private school, facing blasphemy charges. Representing the accused, Advocate Jawad Ashraf argued that his client had no role in the case and the police also failed to establish any direct evidence against him. He said being an aged and cardiac patient, health of his client could be in danger if he was not released. He requested the court to release his client on bail. Justice Sagheer Ahmad Qadri granted bail to the accused and directed him to furnish bail bonds of Rs200,000. Ravi Road police had registered a case against Asim Farooqi and teacher Arfa on charges of blasphemy. The teacher is till at large.
