Karachi: Bank heist foiled in Keamari
KARACHI: Jackson police foiled a bank heist in Keamari on Thursday, a day after robbers took away Rs3.7 million from a bank on Rashid Minhas Road. Police said that at about 10:15am five armed men tried to enter the Habib Bank’s Bhutta Village Branch on Massan Road in Keamari. However, security guards posted at the bank opened fire on them. Two police mobile vans on a patrol nearby soon reached the spot after hearing gunshots. The robbers opened fire on the police, who retaliated against them. However, all the robbers managed to flee in their vehicles after a brief encounter. The police seized two TT pistols left behind by the suspects as well as repeater which the robbers had snatched from a security guard.
On Wednesday, five robbers had taken away Rs3.7 million from the COD Branch of National Bank of Pakistan on Rashid Minhas Road in the Sharea Faisal police limits. It was the second bank heist in the Sharea Faisal police remit and the 21st in the city this year. On October 19 some armed men had looted Rs2.5 million from an HBL branch on Rashid Minhas Road.
