Karachi: ‘Cell phone snatcher’ held
KARACHI: Mohammad Afzal, a 22-year-old cell phone snatcher, was arrested on Thursday after he was beaten black and blue by a man whose belongings he was trying to snatch in Korangi. A 9mm pistol and a few bullets were also recovered from his possession. Following the arrest, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) SP Chaudhry Assad held a press conference at his Korangi office. The DPO Korangi said that Afzal was also wanted for the murder of Zain ul Abadin in August. On August 12 Afzal tried snatching a cell phone from Zain’s friend in a crowded market in Landhi.
“When the man resisted, Afzal fired at him and the bullet hit Zain on the head. He later succumbed to his injuries.” A resident of Dar ul Uloom Parah in Landhi, Afzal did not resist arrest and would be taken to court as soon as the formalities were completed, the SP said.
