Bahawalpur: 8 dacoits held, carpets worth Rs 30m recovered
BAHAWALPUR: The Musaffar Khana police claimed to have arrested eight dacoits involved in looting trucks and trailers and recovered looted carpets worth Rs 30 million. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Bahawalpur DPO Sohail Habib Tajik said that a trailer loaded with hand-made carpets worth Rs 30 million was going to Karachi when 10-12 dacoits stopped it near Mauza Khuda Bakhash Channar on Bahawalpur–Ahmedpur Road on November 3. He said that on the complaint of carpet exporter Haji Muhammad Riaz, the police interrogated the truck driver Roshan Zameer who confessed to the crime.
He said on the pointation of the truck driver, they arrested Muhammad Nawaz of Musaffar Khana, Muhammad Jamil and Abdul Hanan of Bahawalpur’s Shahdra, Abbas Ali Shah of Lodhran, Muhammad Aslam of Dunyapur and others. He said that four pistols, a rifle and a large number of bullets were recovered from them. He disclosed that the dacoits belonged to an inter–provincial gang. Haji Muhammad Riaz gave away cash prizes to Bahawalpur Sadr SDPO Ali Raza Shah, Musaffar Khana SHO Ghulam Mohyuddin Gujjar and other policemen.
