Karachi: ‘Target killer’ held in Shershah
KARACHI: The Anti-Extremism Cell (AEC) of the Crime Investigation Department on Saturday arrested an alleged target killer, involved in the killings of several people, including Muttahida workers, after a raid in the Shershah area. SSP Mohammad Aslam Khan said that investigations into target killings were underway when an informant tipped him off that a notorious criminal having association with a political party of Sindh was present in Karachi. Acting on the tip-off, a police team of the AEC raided the Shershah area and after a brief encounter arrested Asghar Ali alias Asghar Wali with a TT pistol and a hand grenade, while his two associates managed to flee under the cover of fire.
During the initial interrogation, Ali confessed that he was trained in Panjgoor, Balochistan, at the hideout of a banned organisation. Moreover, he has expertise in using lethal weapons and rocket launchers.
Ali told the investigators that he had killed Hanif Sheikh in Al–Falah police remits as he was a supporter of a different political party. He added that he and his accomplices had killed Shahzad Shah in the same area due to the same reason. The accused also admitted to murdering Mansoor, a worker of the MQM in the Al–Falah area. Ali had also killed three more people in the Al–Falah and Malir City areas.
