Faisalabad: Man, woman arrested for carrying heroin
Rahim Yar Khan / Faisalabad: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a passenger at the Faisalabad International Airport for carrying 5.5 kilogram of heroin on Monday. ANF in charge Rana Sohail said the man, identified as Anjum Butt, a resident of Lahore, was boarding a flight to Abu Dhabi. He said the ANF received a call from an unidentified informer who told them about the heroin. Sohail said the Airport Security Force was alerted and the passengers were thoroughly checked. He said they recovered the heroin from Butt’s luggage. He was arrested and narcotics seized.
Customs officials at the Rahim Yar Khan International airport arrested a woman on Sunday for carrying 91 heroin capsules. She will be presented before a special judge (Customs) in Lahore on Tuesday (today).
The officials identified the woman as Sheron from Zambia in South Africa. They said she had introduced herself as a businesswoman.
Customs Collector Tauseef Ahmed Qureshi said the woman was boarding a flight to Abu Dhabi. He said the woman was searched due to her suspicious behaviour. He said initially the officials did not find anything in her luggage. However, when they checked her again they found capsules in her stomach.
She was taken to Shaikh Zayed Hospital, where doctors who did an ultrasound examination on her said that there were at least 91 capsules in her stomach. The capsules were extracted and found to have contained 1.2 kg of heroin, he said. He said the heroin was worth more than Rs10 million.
He said the woman’s record was checked and it was found that she had travelled to Pakistan twice and taken the same route. He said she had arrived on October 8 and landed at Jinnah International Airport. He said she had also travelled to Islamabad and Lahore.
