Gujranwala: 6 cops booked for corruption
GUJRANWALA: The Anti–Corruption Establishment has registered cases against six policemen on the charge of receiving bribe here on Tuesday. The cases have been registered on the orders of ACE Director Yawar Hussain. Investigation Officer Nazir Muhammad Bhatti of the Aroop police has been booked for receiving Rs 15,000 as bribe for arresting accused in a murder case. Action has been taken on the complaint of Haji Iqbal, the complainant. He said that the official had released the accused after arresting him.
SI Farzand Ali of the Sodhra police has been booked for receiving Rs 5,000 as bribe for arresting an accused in a criminal case. The ACE circle officer also booked ASI Yousaf Saikhu of the Civil Lines police for receiving Rs 16,000 as bribe. An official of the Kamoke Sadr police was arrested for receiving Rs 3,000 as bribe. The ACE registered a case against SI Munir Ahmed of Ferozewala police station for receiving Rs 20,000 as bribe in a criminal case. Action has been taken on the complaint of Mustansar Hussain. Ghulam Fatima alleged that ASI Iqbal of the Jinnah Road police had taken Rs 200, a 1.5 litre bottle of soft drink and easy load for his mobile phone in exchange of taking his brother Nawaz to DHQ Hospital for the medical examination on the court orders. Inquiries were held before the registration of the cases.
