Karachi: Engineer granted bail before arrest in fire case
KARACHI: An electrical engineer, who is an accused in the Baldia garments factory fire case, was granted bail before arrest on Monday. Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdullah Channa granted Amjad Ali bail before arrest against a sum of 500,000. Ali, employee of the Sindh government, was duty-bound to frequently visit the factory, Ali Enterprises, where a fire killed 259 labourers on September 1, to check the electricity system. The charge sheet, submitted to the court of Judicial Magistrate (West-II) Sohail Ahmed Mashori, found him negligent. The court granted him bail before arrest, and he would have to get the bail confirmed on December 1.
