Karachi: 10 suspected car lifters held
KARACHI: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) has arrested 10 suspects and recovered stolen vehicles from their possession. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ACLC said its team conducted a raid in Shah Latif Town and after an encounter, arrested Mujahid Mirani alias Commando along with six of his associates. Snatched vehicles were seized at their hideout. The same team raided another hideout of car lifters in Shah Latif Town and arrested Ali Gohar Rind, another associate of Mirani and seized two stolen vehicles that were the property of the Aziz Bhatti police station. A pistol was recovered from Rind’s possession. The ACLC said Mirani was an absconder in many car–snatching cases.
Another ACLC team carried out a raid in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and after an encounter arrested Sohail and Yaseen. It recovered three stolen Toyota Corollas that were the properties of Gulshan and Boat Basin police stations.
During interrogation, the two men confessed to snatching vehicles in the posh areas of the city. They also disclosed that they were members of the Abdul Rehman Chandio group, which is based in Khairpur.
A third ACLC team conducted a raid in Korangi and after an encounter arrested Channa and Saeed Khan. Three stolen vehicles, which were the properties of Gulshan, Super Market and Aziz Bhatti police stations, were recovered from their possession.
The ACLC also seized a Blackberry phone, which the arrested men had snatched from a person in the Aziz Bhatti police remits.
Another ACLC team raided a hideout in Mehran Town, Korangi and arrested Faqeerullah alias Jehangir and Afzal Hassan. It seized a pistol and a snatched motorcycle, which was the property of the Korangi Industrial Area police station. On the information retrieved from the arrested men during interrogation, another raid was conducted. Two men, Zaheer Ahmed and Gulzar Khan, were arrested.
