Karachi: 4 ‘TTP’ men, political activist held in 2 raids
KARACHI: Teams of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested four members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban and an activist of a political party in two raids in the city on Thursday. The Anti–Extremism Cell (AEC) apprehended the TTP men in the Manghopir area for their alleged involvement in extortion cases. While, the activist was held for his role in more than eight target killings. SSP CID Chaudary Aslam told the News that after receiving a tip-off, a team raided the hideout of the TTP men in Sultanabad. On seeing the police, the criminals opened fire which was replayed by the police. During the brief encounter, the officials arrested Syed Abdul Jabbar alias Aga, Arif Nawaz, Rayees Khan and Ismail.
The police also recovered four TT pistols from their possession. During the initial interrogation, the accused disclosed that they were involved in a number of robberies and extortion cases.
In the second search operation, a CID team raided a hideout in Saeedabad and arrested Musheer Alam Siddque. They also recovered a 9MM pistol from him. During the initial interrogation, the accused disclosed that he was an activist of a political party.
