Islamabad: 4 stolen cars recovered, 2 carjackers held
ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) have recovered four stolen cars and arrested two carjackers. The NH&MP received information that a Toyota Corolla Car (LOZ–2231), which was snatched at gunpoint by two unidentified culprits from Faisalabad, was parked at the Behra Interchange service area. When the culprits saw the NH&MP patrolling vehicle, they tried to flee from the scene, however, they were arrested. The culprits were identified as Shahid Iqbal, resident of Sargodha, and Muhammad Khurram, resident of Lahore. They were later handed over to police.
In another incident, when the driver of a Toyota Corolla Car (NY-964) was asked to stop at the Main Toll Plaza, Islamabad, he sped away. However, he stopped the car after covering some distance and disappeared by taking advantage of darkness. The NH&MP men found the telephone number of the owner from the car. He told the NHMP personnel that his car was stolen from the jurisdiction of Waris Khan Police Station, Rawalpindi.
During routine patrolling, the NH&MP men observed a Toyota Corolla GLI Car (UF-487), which was parked on the hard shoulder of the motorway. During search of the car, they found a card of the owner, Muhammad Maki Kha, who was informed about the recovery of his car.
The Gujranwala Police informed the Motorway Police that 2D Salon Car (LRX-9091) has been stolen. The NH&MP officials saw the car parked on the hard shoulder of the GT Road near Green Foods while no one was present inside. The NH&MP officials impounded the car and informed the Gujranwanla Police about its recovery.
