LAHORE: A judicial magistrate Waseem Anjum on Wednesday sent three accused on 14–day judicial remand for selling and distributing toxic cough syrup Tyno that claimed 19 lives. On Wednesday, the Shahdra police produced accused medical store owners M Rizwan, M Fida and Abul Rauf, a distributor before the court seeking six days extension in their physical remand on plea to recover the poisonous syrup. However, counsel of the accused stated that police had failed to recover anything in previous eight–day physical remand of his clients.
Counsel of Abdul Rauf said police had not collected any sort of evidence against his client. The counsel for accused Fida submitted that Section 302 did not apply in this case adding if we assumed for a moment that Tyno was toxic even then his client was not responsible but pharmaceutical company.
