Inter-dist bike lifters’ gang busted in Jhang
JHANG: The police claimed to have arrested an inter–district motorcycle lifters gang and recovered 28 bikes and tools used for preparing fake registration books. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, DPO Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika said a team was constituted after several complaints of bike–snatching incidents. He said that the team arrested six bike snatchers who operated in Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal and Faisalabad. He said the gangsters included Akbar, Ghulam Farid, Irfan, Abdul Rashid and Abdul Aziz arrested.
He added that they were tracing owners of the recovered motorcycles. He disclosed that after preparing fake registration books, the accused sold the motorcycles for up to Rs 30,000 each. To a question, the DPO said that he had informed the DCO and TMA high-ups regarding encroachments, which was a major reason of increasing traffic problems. The SP Investigations, Sadr DSP Tahir Warraich and several SHOs were also present.
