Khairpur: 4 narcotic dealers arrested in raid
KHAIRPUR: Four narcotic dealers including a cop and a woman were arrested by the Gambat Police on Thursday. Police recovered 144 kilograms of Charas from their possession. According to details, Gambat Police intercepted a car (AAY-210) at National Highway. The arrested persons include Paraluddin s/o Qalader Bux Birohi, Mir Hazar Khan s/o Dost Muhammad Birohi of Balochistan, a cop of Jacobabad police Qadir Bux s/o Mushtaq Thaheem and Kainat alias Ghuriad d/o Qadir Bux Seelro of Ratodero.
It recovered 144 kilograms of charas from their possession and registered case against them under narcotic act and is further investigating. Meanwhile, two terrorists were arrested in the wee hours of Thursday. Police recovered explosive material from their possession.
According to details, Gambat Police on a tip-off raided a Toyota car (HF-059) which was going to Karachi from Waziristan and recovered two Kalashnikovs, two magazines, 14 rocket launchers, big quantity of cartridges and other explosive material. It arrested two terrorists Farooq s/o M Afzal and Zeeshan s/o Meenazar Pathan of Waziristan and had registered a case under Terrorist Act against them
According to police, the explosive material was being shifted to Karachi to be used in terrorist activities. Further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, Prof Dr Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur paid a visit at the Institute of Education Comprehensive Higher Secondary School Khairpur on Thursday during ongoing Semester-1 Examinations 2012.
On this occasion, Dr Shah advised the appearing candidates to continue their efforts for the pursuit of quality education because education is the major dynamic of change.
Dr Parveen Shah visited the 10 blocks, where 250 BEd and 105 MEd candidates appeared.
Dr Jameel Ahmed Memon Additional Director Institute of Education requested the Vice Chancellor to enhance the salary of Teaching Assistants from 7,000 to 10,000 rupees. On his request Vice Chancellor assured him for the enhancement of salaries at par with University Teaching Assistants and the same will be also enhanced for other nine educational centers.
The VC also directed the Controller of Examinations to announce the result of BEd and MEd programme. Prof Dr Ahmed Hussain Shah, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts, Prof Dr Taj Lashari Media Coordinator, Barkatullah Qureshi Controller of Examinations, Rehman Gul Gilal and Imran Ali Soomro Secretary to Vice Chancellor also accompanied with Vice Chancellor during the visit.
Moreover, Asad Raza Abdi, inspector of colleges, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Thursday announced that the date of admission in BA, BCom, BSc, BSc (Home Economics) and MA (Previous & Final) regular classes for the session 2012–2013, at all affiliated Degree Colleges and Post Graduate Study Centres of Sukkur and Larkana region has been extended. Now the admission forms can be submitted up to December 31 with the late fee of Rs2,000.
