Rawalpindi: Unhygienic meat seized; 1 held
RAWALPINDI: A team of District Food Department (DFD) along with police conducted a raid at Dhoke Elahi Baksh in the wee hours of Thursday and seized 1200–kg unhygienic meat besides handcuffing a butcher. A case under the Slaughter Act has also been registered against the butcher identified as Muhammad Imtiaz son of Muhammad Shabbir hails from Dhoke Elahi Baksh. The police would present the butcher before court today for physical remand, informed Police Station (PS) Waris Khan Assistant Sub–Inspector (ASI) Sikandar, who is investigating the case.
According to details, under the supervision of General Manager (GM) Sihala Slaughter House Dr Muhammad Irshad, a team of DFD officials along with police raided at 5:30am on a shop located at Street Number, near Al–Jadeed Graveyard at Dhoke Elahi Baksh and seized some 30 large size pieces of unhygienic meat weighing 1200 kg . The raiding team also arrested a butcher during the raid.
Later, PS Waris Khan taken up case against the arrested butcher Imtiaz on the complaint of GM Slaughter House. The unhygienic meat was discarded by the officials of DFD.
