Kasur crime rate decreases in 2012
KASUR: Kasur police has claimed that the there had been tremendous decrease in the crime rate in 2012 as compared to the year 2011. Police recovered and handed over booty worth Rs 14 crore during the year 2012 and handed over the same to the victims. This was disclosed by DPO Kasur Syed Khurram Ali while talking to the local media at his office on Monday. The DPO said out of 11,158 cases registered with the Kasur police in 2012, 9,772 cases were challaned. About 11,763 cases were registered in 2011 with different police stations in the district, he said.
He also said that Kasur police had 16 encounters while 18 accused were killed during exchange of firing with the police. He said that Proclaimed Offenders including Asif alias Tainda, Riaz Dogar, Tariq having head money worth Rs 1m each while Ishaqi and Saeed Mayo each having head money worth Rs 500,000 each for their involvement in henious crimes including kidnapping for ransom, murder and vehicle–snatching were killed during encounter with the police. About four cases of kidnapping for ransom were registered with the Kasur police while all the kidnapped were recovered and the accused were arrested.
