Islamabad: 2 impersonators arrested in MNA kidnapping case
ISLAMABAD: The Secretariat Police Thursday registered case against three persons impersonating themselves as officials of sensitive intelligence agency, on attempting to kidnap MNA of the ruling party, Ms Naseem Chaudhary hailing from Multan and arrested two of them, the police sources told this scribe here on Thursday. The incident occurred on December 29, 2012 in the evening in front of Foreign Office at Constitution Avenue when three double–cabin riding people intercepted the car of the MNA and allegedly tried to kidnap her.
The MNA Naseem Chaudhary lodged a complaint with the Secretariat Police Station claiming that three persons riding a white double cabin vehicle bearing registration number (WB-707-ICT) started chasing her car when she was heading towards Parliament Lodges along with her driver and intercepted her car in front of the Foreign Office. She claimed that one of them when asked, introduced himself as colonel of ISI saying that they were from ISI and would take her with them. The lady claimed that they tried to push her in their vehicle, but she asked her driver to speed up the car towards Parliament House, but those people chased her afterwards, however, she reached police picket at Radio Pakistan Chowk where personnel of operational and traffic police were present. She said that she asked the police to nab people chasing her, but the police didn’t take any action against them, however, they escaped from the scene in the presence of the police deployed at the picket.
The police officials engaged in investigation, told this correspondent that the suspects were traced out through their vehicle number and contacted them on their home address, adding that one of them, Mudassar, straightaway came to the police station to face investigation, but the lady MNA, using political influence at top level and managed to lodge FIR (No2) against the accused under sections 506,342,365,511,170/34 PPC as she desired.
The police, later, arrested Mudassar Akram and Ghulam Murtaza while, third accused Faisal Azam was yet to be arrested.
The police officials, on the condition of anonymity, told this correspondent that the lady MNA wrongly involved the accused in the case and they didn’t attempt to kidnap her, but the police were bound to book them under the said charges as she was an influential lady of Islamabad belonging to the ruling party.
MNA Ms. Naseem Chaudhary, when contacted by this correspondent for her comments, denied the allegation saying that she didn’t use any influence for lodging FIR against the kidnappers. She said that the police didn’t cooperate with her and succumbed from the influence of the accused party. “Even, member of parliament is unsafe in the most protected Red Zone,” the MNA said, adding that the captors impersonated themselves as Colonel and Major of ISI to commit the heinous crime of kidnapping in the most sensitive area of Red Zone, but the police kept silent, even, the suspects have been sent to jail on judicial remand instead of obtaining their physical remand.
