7 accused remanded into police custody
MANSEHRA: Seven persons accused of killing three brothers over the Kohistan video scandal were remanded in the police custody under a tight security on Monday. Senior Civil Judge of Kohistan Ali Gohar handed Shamsuddin, Mukhtasar Khan, Awal Khan, Jintasir, Mohammad Taus, Mohammad Batual and Jahangir Khan over to police custody after they were produced before the court.
A heavy police contingent was deployed in and outside the court in view of the tension after the killing of three brothers over the Kohistan video scandal, which came to limelight in June last year.
Akbar Ali Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police of Kohistan, told reporters the police were striving to complete the formalities for the early dispensation of justice. “Besides arrest of all the accused either involved in 302 or 109 sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, weapons used in killing of three brothers were also recovered,” he added.
Four accused, including a cleric, who had led a jirga that allegedly ordered the killing of the men and women seen in the video, were arrested and sent on judicial remand last week.
