500kg of hashish seized in Karachi
KARACHI: The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) seized 500 kilogrammes of hashish on Tuesday near Gwadar in Balochistan. The PCG received a tip-off, according to which a large quantity of drugs was being smuggled from upcountry into Karachi by road and then was going to be smuggled abroad. A PCG team started checking for suspicious vehicles between Pleri and Nagore, during which a driver was signalled to stop his vehicle.
The driver opened fire and sped away instead, but the PCG personnel pursued him and intercepted the vehicle after an exchange of fire. Five hundred kilogrammes of hashish was recovered while searching the vehicle, but the driver and the rest of the smugglers travelling in the vehicle managed to escape.
