Karachi: PCG seizes 3000 kg hashish in raid
KARACHI: The Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday seized a huge cache of 3000–kilogram worth Rs 220 million hashish in the open sea near Gwadar. A statement issued by the PCG said the PCG Sea patrolling team intercepted a private launch in the open sea. On inquiry, the crew reported that the said launch was anchored in the sea due to engine failure. However, at midnight, three small speedboats were spotted on radar moving towards the suspected launch.
On the said development, the PCG officials immediately moved towards the suspected site. Watching the PCG boats arriving, the smugglers left the launch and managed to flee from the scene, using speedboats. During search operation, the PCG officials recovered 3000 kilogram of fine quantity hashish. Both the launch and hashish have been taken into custody for further processing.
