SUKKUR: The Excise police seized 80kg of heroin and 10kg of Charas on Wednesday at Kamu Shaheed border of Sindh–Punjab at Obaro in Ghotki district. Reports said the Excise police forced a Karachi–bound truck to stop at Sindh–Punjab border in Ghotki district. The vehicle was coming from Peshawar.
KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate officials seized 550 kilograms of hashish and 15 kilograms of opium from a truck on the Karachi–Gwadar Highway on Wednesday night. Dr Arsalan, director of the Model Customs Collectorate, said that the officials were carrying out checking near the Khurkera post along the highway when they signalled a truck to pull up. The truck driver sped away, instead.
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday seized the alleged ill–gotten Rs40 million cash and expensive weapons during a raid on the house of an arrested police officer in Hayatabad area. The NAB had arrested budget officer of the police department Javed Khan and contractor Arshad Majeed on Feb 21, 2013. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the bureau said the man had made important revelations during investigation.
SARGODHA: Police seized a truck loaded with empty covers of used bullets of various kinds and arrested two persons on Wednesday. According to the Cantonment police, during usual checking a truck was halted and on search of it heavy quantity of used bullets’ covers were recovered. The police held two accused and launched investigation. Sources said that the truck was bounded for Wah Cantt from Lahore but it has been sent here to sell out in local scrap market.
LOWER DIR: Central Vice Amir of the Jamaat-I–Islami Sirajul Haq has been arrested, Geo News reported Wednesday. According to a JI spokesman, Sirajul Haq was booked in a case for a protest against a military operation in Bajaur in 2008 and he had been on bail. A civil judge in Lower Dir today cancelled his bail and issued arrest orders.
LAHORE: A joint team of police and sensitive agency arrested five suspects, including a woman, and recovered sims, cellphones, official documents and weapons from them. The said team raided the residential quarters in Factory Area of Kot Lakhpat.
KARACHI: Rangers carried out targeted operation in Shah Latif Town area of the metropolis on Thursday, recovering a huge amount of explosive material, sources said. According to the sources, the rangers raided a newly built house located n Shah Latif Town and recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), detonating cads, and 2 walky-talkies. Rangers and police have kicked off the investigation, sources added.
KARACHI: Unidentified armed pillion riders, in span of half an hour on Wednesday, night hurled two hand grenades at Shah Faisal Police station and Baloch Colony areas, respectively. In the first incident, unidentified armed pillion riders threw a hand grenade at Shah Faisal Police Station and vanished. As a result, the hand grenade exploded with the loud bang outside the police station, causing panic and uncertainty in the vicinity.
KARACHI: An alleged child rapist, Ehsan, was arrested while he was trying to sodomise a young boy in Sikander Goth on Wednesday, said Sachal police. SDPO Sohrab Goth Qamar told The News that earlier the accused had sexually assaulted and murdered six–year–old Wania, daughter of Abid.
KARACHI: A police team on Wednesday busted a criminal gang involved in issuing forged letters of employment to people seeking jobs in the police department and arrested two fraudsters. The suspects had conned over 15 people into purchasing the letters in return for a sum of Rs150, 000 each. During the operation led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) District West Asif Ijaz Shiekh, police also confiscated fake letters and stamps.
