Karachi: Child recovered, abductors held
KARACHI: A six-year-old child was recovered and four kidnappers were arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Anti–Violent Crime Cell and Citizens–Police Liaison Committee on Wednesday. According to details, police said that Rehan, son of Saleem Paracha, was picked up by the kidnappers when he was on his way to tuition centre located at North Nazimabad on January 21. Police said that at least two armed riders intercepted and abducted the child. The victim’s father is a local businessman who registered an FIR. Culprits made phone calls and demanded Rs5m ransom for his release.
Negotiation set the amount at Rs1.3 million while CPLC and AVCC police in a joint operation able to arrest the culprits when they arrived to collect the ransom money at Sohrab Goth, Super Highway. Kidnappers including Ali Gauhar and Mehran Khan were arrested after an encounter in which accused were also sustained bullet wounds.
Police managed to get the details about the hideout located in a residential house of North Nazimabad and recovered the abducted child. Two suspects Tahir and Rehman were also taken to custody from the kidnappers’ hideout. Police said that it was an organised gang of kidnappers. They also involved in several other kidnapping incidents of other children.
