Rawalpindi: Dacoits gang busted; 5 arrested
RAWALPINDI: Police claimed to have smashed an intra–district gang by nabbing its five members along with its ringleader during an action, besides recovering weapons and stolen stuff to the tune of Rs 17.5 million. The intruders hit a house located at Peshawar Road and owned by Asim Ameer with the help of house servants on 4/1/2013 and looted gold ornaments, cash, and electronic appliances. Later, the robbers fled on car they snatched at gunpoint. A robbery case was registered with Police Station (PS) Race Course.
City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher, while taking serious notes of the house robbery, constituted a special team headed by SP Potohar Division Haroon Joya and DSP Cannt Circle Chaudhry Shehbaz. The team, after day night hectic efforts, succeeded to arrest the burglars and recovered the stolen stuff worth Rs 17.5 million, the Honda city car and the weapons they used in the house robbery.
The robbers identified as Muhammad Imran of Hala Nankana, also the ring leader, Muhammad Bisharat hails from Multan, Muhammad Kashif belong to Dhera Ghazi Khan, Asif Ali and Sajjad Ali of Nankana Sahib.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) PS Race Course Syed Tahir Kazmi the detainees were being interrogated while more revelations were being expected.
In another action, PS Airport held three suspected dacoits namely Saqib, Zohaib and Sheraz and recovered 3 pistols with 14 bullets. The suspects were put behind the lock ups after filing case whereas investigation was on, informed police spokesman.
