Islamabad: 203 beggars held in 10 days
ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan has directed heads of all police stations to launch crackdown against alms seekers and ensure registration of cases against them after arresting them. Reviewing a report here on Monday, he directed all police officials to constitute special police teams to patrol in the shopping centres and markets for the arrest of professional beggars.
He was told that Islamabad Police arrested 203 beggars during the last ten days while action was also taken as per law against professional alms seekers. He said that mischievous elements wander in the city in guise of beggars and strict action is needed to curb such activities.
