Lahore: CCPO directed to probe FIA rape case
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Safdar Ali Bhatti on Tuesday directed CCPO Lahore to hold an inquiry on a petition seeking registration of case against SHO and Investigation Officer of Gulberg police station on the charges of changing FIR sections registered against Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sub–inspector for raping a girl. However, the court has directed complainant on her second petition seeking re-addition of PPC sections which were removed by IO from the FIR to approach magistrate concerned and prosecutor.
Complainant ‘AN’ contended in her petition that on February 4, 2013, FIA sub–inspector Ahmed Khan Merani trapped her by luring her for a job and took her in a room of hotel and raped her there. She said that accused was arrested from the spot and police registered a case against him.
However, SHO Gulberg and Investigation Officer Fida Hussain forced her to withdraw the case. She said that on February 6, IO called her in police station and asked her to reconcile with accused and offered her Rs 500,000 as compensation.
She said that IO extended life threats to her. IO also introduced her with a person namely Ihsan saying that he is an Assistant Director in National Accountability Bureau Punjab and will cooperate with her if she cooperates with them.
She alleged that IO lingered on matter of her medical checkup. She stated that on February 7, IO Fida produced accused Ahmed Khan before the magisterial court and under criminal intentions tampered the FIR.
