Karachi: 4 ‘extortionists’ held in 2 raids
KARACHI: Personnel of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Wednesday arrested two men allegedly involved in more than 50 kidnapping for ransom and extortion cases during a raid in the Docks police limits. Police said they found two hand grenades, two TT pistols and a repeater gun in their possession.
The SIU SSP said the investigations into kidnappings for ransom were under way when an informant tipped them off about the whereabouts of the accused. A team raided a hideout in Machar Colony, and apprehended Muhammad Haroon and Muhamamd Tabeeb after an encounter. The accused were shifted to an investigation unit for questioning.
Meanwhile, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested two men allegedly involved in kidnapping for ransom and extortion cases in the Jackson police limits.
CID personnel raided a hideout of criminals in Keamari and, after an encounter, arrested Zafar and Sheeraz. The team also claimed to have found two TT pistols on them. The accused were taken to an investigation unit for questioning.
