Karachi: 6 suspects held in raids
KARACHI: Law enforcers claimed to have arrested half dozen suspects in different raids on Wednesday. DIG Javed Odho while addressing a press conference revealed that Manghopir police claimed to have arrested an alleged target killer Shafiq, involved in more than 34 cases of target killings in Baldia locality. He said that Shafiq was wounded during a police encounter.
DIG Odho said the accused was released from the jail in 2012 over murder cases of 18 people. After his release from the jail, he killed six more people belonging to a political party and others.
The accused person belonged to a criminal group and raids are underway for his companions. DIG Odho pointed out that about 400 policemen arrived from rural Sindh have been merged in the district west police which would helpful in curbing the terrorism and crime.
However, Crime Investigation Department SSP Fayyaz Khan claimed to have arrested two suspects Zafar and Saroosh, after the CID team conducted a raid on a tip-off in Keamari area. The suspects were arrested after an exchange of fire. He said they were involved in more than 50 cases of house robberies and extortion while further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, New Karachi Police have arrested a man Fareed and his two sons Farrukh and Sohail over their alleged involvement in kidnapping and attempt to murder of an owner of a confectionary shop owner over monetary dispute. Police officials said that they managed to arrest the suspects after a kidnapped Shehzad, who was thrown in the New Karachi nullah, was found in unconscious condition, informed police about his kidnapping. On the other side, Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed to have recovered 44.8 kilogrammes of fine quality heroin during a checking of a container.
