Karachi: 3 convicted in mugging case
KARACHI: A sessions court convicted three accused in a street crime case on Thursday. District and Sessions Judge (Central) awarded three years imprisonment to Iqbal Malik, Altaf Malik and Riaz Ahmed after finding them guilty of snatching mobile phone and other values at gunpoint from a citizen Muhammad Ali, who was the complainant of the case.
The judge ruled that the convicts were involved in street crimes and they had also used illegal arms and were liable to face another four months imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on each convict and in case of default they would have to undergo further three months’ rigorous imprisonment. The case was registered by the Gulbahar police under sections 337-A and 392 of the Criminal Procedure Code and Section 13-D.
The investigation officer told the court that the accused were also involved in police encounter, as the judge ruled that the convicts would have to face another six months’ imprisonment. They were arrested on March 22, 2011 after a police encounter.
