Rawalpindi: Attempt to smuggle heroin abroad foiled
RAWALPINDI: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a man from Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) in possession of a huge quantity of heroin concealed in secret cavities of his luggage while he was proceeding to Abu Dhabi on Thursday morning, the ANF said. The ANF staff during checking of passengers of flight EY-332 at 4:30 a.m.
found a suspicious passenger, later identified as Ijaz Ahmad, son of Munawar Ali Shah, from Gujranwala, passport number 1150454. He was proceeding to Abu Dhabi. When the staff searched his luggage thoroughly, five kilograms of heroin powder were recovered from his baggage.
The arrested passenger was shifted to the ANF Regional Directorate for further investigation. The ANF said that during preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to his attachment with the international drug mafia, adding that teams have been sent to arrest mafia members active in Pakistan.
