Islamabad: Car thieves arrested, vehicles and narcotics recovered
ISLAMABAD: The police have claimed that nine alleged criminals from various areas of the city, including five car thieves have been arrested and recovered stolen and tampered vehicles, bottles of wine and narcotics. According to details, Kohsar Police Station SHO Sajjad Hussain Bukhari constituted a special team under his supervision, including Sub–inspector Muhammad Arsahd to retrieve a stolen vehicle.
The team cordoned off the area and starting checking suspected vehicles and got hold of a van near Sector F7 whose number plates was tampered with. The police team arrested one man and is still looking for his accomplice.
In a separate incident, another police team constituted under the supervision of Koral Police Station Sub–inspector Muhammad Abbas arrested four alleged car thieves, identified as Babar Hussain, Nayyer Iqbal, Mustafa and Zarab Ahmed. Meanwhile, Anti–Car Lifting Cell Sub–inspector Muhammad Afzal recovered a tampered vehicle from Shoiab and Maashooq, while Industrial Area Police Station ASI Muhammad Sharif recovered another tampered vehicle from Muslim Kiyani and Saleem. ASI Muhammad Nawaz recovered a stolen laptop from Ghafir in another incident. In a separate incident, Bhara Kau Police Station Sub-inspector Shaukat Ali recovered 1.210 Kg hashish from Attaullah and Wali Rehman, while ASI Ameer Sajjad recovered five bottles of liquor from an alleged bootlegger, identified as Aaqib. Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan and SSP Yaseen Farooq announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the policemen who arrested these alleged car thieves. The IGP said that effective measures were being taken to curb car theft incidents. He also said that a significant decline had been witnessed in such incidents due to the hard work of policemen.
