Karachi: Big quantity of drugs seized
KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate officials seized 550 kilograms of hashish and 15 kilograms of opium from a truck on the Karachi–Gwadar Highway on Wednesday night. Dr Arsalan, director of the Model Customs Collectorate, said that the officials were carrying out checking near the Khurkera post along the highway when they signalled a truck to pull up. The truck driver sped away, instead.
The customs officials chased the truck and managed to intercept it after a while. However, the driver escaped. During a search of secret cavities of the vehicle, the officials found hashish and opium worth hundreds of millions of rupees in the international market.
An FIR under the Customs Act has been registered and a hunt for the driver is underway.
