SWABI: Former independent MPA Sardar Ali from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was sentenced to three-year imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 by a local court here on Saturday for giving false information about his BA degree. Sardar Ali, an independent candidate, defeated Abdul Karim Khan of Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao, now named as Qaumi Watan Party, in the 2008 general elections from PK-34 Swabi-1V.

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Wasi, a protocol officer of Bilawal House, from Karachi on Thursday. As per sources, Wasi was arrested from Karachi airport trying to leave the country. The protocol officer allegedly helped prime accused in Shahzeb murder case, Shahrukh Jatoi in escaping from Karachi to Dubai. On December 25, 2012, Shahzeb was murdered allegedly by Shahrukh over a petty dispute near DHA’s Mubarak Masjid in Karachi.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police on Thursday arrested 10 outlaws from various localities of the city and recovered drugs, wine and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said. According to details, Inspector General of Police Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Yassen Farooq assigned the task to arrest the accused involved in hashish and wine smuggling. Station House Officer of Sabzi Mandi police station Inspector Qasim Khan Naizi and Sub–Inspector Alamgeer Khan during special checking arrested two accused Salman and Kamran of Peshawar and recovered eight–and–a-half kilograms hashish from their possession.
KARACHI: Police arrested a man on Thursday in the murder case of notorious Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu, who was killed along with his brother and three accomplices last week. DIG South Range Shahid Hayat Khan said Shahjahan Khan was taken into custody after Pappu’s family nominated him as accused in the FIR. The arrest was made at the Lyari General Hospital. The DIG said the suspect had been in jail custody in two murder cases and brought to the hospital for treatment. Police transported him back to the jail after his arrest.
OKARA: Police arrested four bootleggers and recovered brewed wine from them here on Thursday. Shergarh police raided and arrested Imran with 100 liter brewed wine while his two accomplices Madad Ali Pathan and Jan Muhammad Pathan succeeded to escape. A-Division police booked Nadeem of Christian Colony, who escaped leaving behind two cans of 50 liter brewed wine.
GUJRANWALA: A bailiff recovered a man from the illegal custody of Jinnah Road police here on Thursday. Siddique, in an application to the sessions judge, stated that his son Muhammad Zahid was a scrap dealer on Sialkot Road. He said that ASI Javed, Constables Suleman, Zeeshan and Munir thrashed his son, took him to the police station and detained him at an undisclosed location without any case.
LAHORE: The Gulshan–e-Ravi police claimed to have smashed a motorcycle snatching gang and arrested its five members including a lady and recovered motorcycles besides illegal weapons from their possession. During preliminary interrogation, the gangsters confessed 51 motorcycle snatching incidents committed in various parts of the city. A special police led by DSP Gulshan Ravi arrested Asif Khan a ring leader of Pathan motorcycle snatching gang.
