Islamabad: 4 muggers among 10 people arrested, car recovered
ISLAMABAD: A street gang involved in mugging and six other people allegedly involved in car theft cases and possession of illegal weapons have been arrested in the capital, said a press release issued on Tuesday by the police. According to details, a police team comprised of Sihala Police Station SHO Muhammad Akhtar and ASI Aurangzab apprehended four street criminals, identified as Baber Khan, Waseem Khan, Faisal and Mazhar Khan. The team recovered two snatched mobile phones, cash and a 32-bore pistol.
The arrested have confessed to their involvement in several street crimes and the court concerned has given their physical remand. Shalimar Police Station SHO Ghulam Muhammad Baqir and Sub–inspector Muhammad Ali arrested Waleed Khan for his involvement in a car snatching incident. The policemen also recovered a snatched car.
Meanwhile, Golra Police Station ASI Anwar Zaib arrested Malik Zafar Ali Khan and recovered a bottle of wine, while Tarnol Police Station ASI Waheed Ahmad arrested Bani Amin and recovered a 30-bore pistol.
Bhara Kau Police Station Sub-inspector Rafiullah arrested Asim Akram and recovered a 30–bore pistol, while Industrial Area Police Station ASI Muhammad Nawaz nabbed Ayub for possessing an illegal 30–bore pistol.
Ashraf Shehzad Town Police Station Sub-inspector Muhammad recovered a 30–bore pistol and arrested Zaifat. On the other hand, street crimes have escalated in various areas of Rawalpindi, such as RA Bazaar, causing concern amongst the residents, while the police is yet to take action.
The inhabitants complained that muggers were roaming freely in the area and snatching valuables from the residents, especially in Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony and Chungi no 22.
The residents have demanded the Rawalpindi CPO and other authorities concerned to take strict action against muggers.
