Okara: Liquor, weapons recovered from OMF ‘no-go area’
OKARA: A huge quantity of liquor and weapons were recovered while four proclaimed offenders were arrested during a raid on the ‘no–go area’ of Okara Military Farms (OMF). Addressing a press conference here on Monday, DPO Dr Haider Ashraf said that that he had been receiving reports regarding ‘no–go areas’ in the OMF villages, particularly 10/4L, where several breweries were working.
He said that a team led by Cantonment SHO Malik Tassawar unearthed several distilleries in 10/4L village and recovered 1,000 litres of brewed wine, 2,600 litres of raw wine, heavy weapons and arrested POs, including Irshad alias Tundi, Pervez Masih, Albert Masih alias Captain and Amir Ijaz Masih. He claimed that a drive had been launched against bootleggers across the district.
Meanwhile, Haji Taj Din advocate, father of Rai Faryad Ali Kharal advocate who was murdered by dacoits with ASI Mushtaq Hussain Shah, met the DPO and informed him that three prosecution witnesses, out of total 13, had appeared in court. The DPO directed the DSP Legal to ensure presence of witnesses in court. He also warned negligent officials of stringent action.
