Karachi: Alleged killer of Perveen held
KARACHI: West Zone Police claimed to have killed an alleged commander of outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan here on Thursday. The victim was identified as Qari Bilal, affiliated with Shair Khan Mehsud group of TTP Manghopir. Police suspected that the victim was involved in the murder of social worker Perveen Rehman who was gunned down in Pirabad area on Wednesday night when she was on her way to home located in Gulistan–e–Jauhar area from Orangi Town.
DIG Javed Iqbal Odho said that the suspect was killed in an encounter with the police when he was passing through the area in a car along with three of his companions.
Police during snap checking in Sultanabad area tried to intercept the car. The militants opened fire on the police.
In retaliation, Qari Bilal was killed while his companions managed to escape under the cover of firing. He said that the initial investigation suggested that Qari Bilal was involved in the killing of Parveen Rehman but nothing could be said until the end of investigation.
On the other side, at least 29 other suspects including alleged members of outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar–e-Jhangvi were apprehended during targeted operation in Korangi area.
The operation was conducted in Mehran Town locality of Korangi Industrial Area. The entire locality was cordoned off during the operation hours while heavy contingent of Rangers personnel participated in the operation.
According to Rangers spokesman, the target killers and extortionists were also among the arrested persons and around 32 weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Rangers also conducted targeted raids in Gulistan-e-Iqbal and Jamshed Town areas from where they arrested an alleged member of TTP and two members of outlawed Lashkar–e–Jhangvi. They also claimed to have recovered weapons from their possession
