Bahawalpur: Police ‘connive’ with land mafia
BAHAWALPUR: With alleged connivance of police, land mafia has taken over a land of more than 23–acres and a case has also been registered against the “victims”.Muhammad Aqeel Aziz along with his nieces Maimona and Khushnooda told the media that his sister Aneela Aziz leased out a piece of land to Basheer Ahmad, a resident of Moza Darwaish Muhammad Judge Wali Puli.
The contract for lease has been expired on May 1, 2012, he said, and added that when Basheer was asked to vacate the land he made excuses and delayed the plan of vacation. “On February 28, 13, Basheer along with Rana Muhammad Nawaz, Ghulam Nabi, Ashraf and other 40 unknown people took over the land illegally on which the victims called at 15 but the police without hearing our view point sent us behind bars in spite of the fact that our land has been grabbed,” he said.
Muhammad Aqeel said, “Basheer had asked us repeatedly to sell him the land but we refused and he made a deal with the land mafia and taken over the land.” He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to provide them with justice.
