Karachi: Rangers arrest 36 suspects in raid
KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers located a torture cell and arrested 36 activists of a political party during a raid in the wee hours of Monday in Brohi Goth of Landhi. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered. According to a Rangers spokesman, personnel of the paramilitary force led a targeted operation in the aforementioned area. All entry and exit points to the locality had been sealed off.
Commandos and lady Rangers personnel busted the torture cell and recovered various weapons used for torture. As many as 36 suspects were rounded up and 69 weapons of various caliber as well as drugs were recovered from the possession of the suspects, he said.
The detained men were moved to the investigation unit for interrogation. Sources said that the 36 suspects belonged to a political party and were involved in kidnappings, target killings and torturing people. They were wanted by the police in a number of cases.
They alleged that the suspects were recently involved in the murders of four to five policemen in the East Range.
