Sialkot: 50 black coats booked for running amoke at court
SIALKOT: The Pasrur Police have registered a case (No. 85/2013) under sections 147, 148, 224 and 225 PPC against 50 local lawyers for attacking the court of a local civil judge and ransacking furniture and other articles there during a vandalism and hooliganism in court here the other day. On Wednesday, Civil Judge Pasrur Raja Zahid Hussain awarded three–year rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs25000 to a local lawyer Asad Qureshi in a six years old case (No. 111/2007) under section 489–F for giving a fake cheque of Rs0.8 million to village Kot Agha–Pasrur based landlord Karamat Ali. After the conviction by the court, the Pasrur Police arrested the accused lawyer.
Upon this, the lawyers started protesting against the conviction of a colleague in a bogus cheque case and a group of lawyers stormed a court in Pasrur and ransacked the furniture and other paraphernalia. The protesters also got the convicted lawyer freed from the police custody.
They let loose their indignation by beating up some policemen and ransacking the court property. The lawyers broke the nameplate of Judicial Magistrate Mujahid Sherdil. The police sealed the FIR of the case with no arrest.
Meanwhile, the Pasrur Bar Association held a meeting on Thursday. Pasrur Bar Association Vice President Muhammad Akhtar Dogar and General Secretary Ghulam Mustafa Bhatti jointly chaired the meeting.
They announced to continue strike and boycott of the local courts till the transfer of the Civil Judge Raja Zahid Hussain and Judicial Magistrate Mujahid Sher Dil. They justified their acts by telling journalists that the judge had settled a personal score with the accused.
On the other hand, the lawyers in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial, observed strike to express solidarity with the lawyers of Pasrur on Thursday. The lawyers boycotted courts and wore the black armbands, besides, unanimously passing several condemnation resolutions in this regard.
