Sargodha: 17 ‘Highway men’ booked for funds scam
SARGODHA: At least 17 officials of the Punjab Highway Department, Sargodha Division have been booked in three separate cases over the charges of misappropriations in road projects. The Anti–Corruption Establishment launched an investigation after registration of the cases. Mumtaz Muhammad Khan had filed two complaints with ACE Regional Director Babar Aman Babar that Khansar to Goharwala road in Bhakkar district was constructed with substandard material while payments had been made to the contractors with the connivance of Highway officers.
In another complaint, Mumtaz argued that the Dulewala to Darya Khan road was also constructed with substandard material and alleged irregularities in the developmental project too. In the third FIR, allegations were levelled against the Highway Department Mianwali that payments haad been made to contractors with the help of accounts officials while work at the Jandanwala Jhang Bhakkar Darya Khan road is still incomplete.
