Rawalpindi: Robbers snatch gold from jewellers
RAWALPINDI: Two unknown robbers snatched 1300 grams of gold and cash from two jewellers on gunpoint at Ganjmandi Road, the jurisdictions of Police Station (PS) Ratta Amral, reliable sources informed here on Thursday. The police, on receiving information of the incident, rushed to the scene and started investigation. However, no case was registered in this regard.
According to the sources, two jewellers Muhammad Akhter and Muhammad Anwar, who hail from Sargodha, arrived at Sarafa Bazaar to buy gold ornaments. Earlier, both jewellers bought gold from Mandi Bahaudin, Jhelum, Dina, Mir Pur and Murree, the sources said.
The jewellers hired a rickshaw to reach their destination carrying a bag into their hand containing the gold, the sources said adding as the jewellers reached Ganjmandi Road, two robbers suddenly appeared there and pointed guns at them. Later, the intruders snatched 1300 grams of gold and Rs 18,000 cash from them and ran away.
The matter was brought into the notice of PS Ratta Amral by the two victims. The investigation was underway till the filing of this report with no recovery. Station House Officer (SHO) PS Ratta Amral Syed Azhar Hussain Shah could not be approached for his official version.
