Sargodha: 2 booked for extorting money
SARGODHA: The Anti Corruption Establishment has filed a case against a UNICEF nutrition officer over the charges of embezzlement and extortion of money from salt grind mills owners in Iodine Programme. CE took that action on the complaint filed by Abdul Karim, an office–bearer of Salt Association Sargodha. The complainant said that the Iodine Programme was initiated by Punjab government in 2007–08.
Firstly, the iodine was provided to the salt grinders free of cost but later prices were fixed and now the salt grinders were compelled to buy it at Rs3,700 per kg. Besides, the owners have been threatened to seal all salt grind mills just for extortion of money by the Unicef local authorities and the health officials.
An FIR has been lodged against District Nutrition officer and focal person Hifza Malik and District Sanitary Inspector Health Abdul Sattar by the Anti Corruption Establishment and further investigation are underway.
