MULTAN: Nine alleged member of the Tehreek–e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested in separate rages in Karachi and Multan on Monday. According to reports, Rangers claimed to have arrested eight members of the TTP during a raid in the Maripur area. Sources privy to the arrests said that “tennis balls bombs” and a huge cache of arms were recovered from the arrested culprits. Meanwhile, an alleged TTP activist was arrested while pasting the group’s pamphlets in the Multan Press Club.
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday arrested Director Enforcement of Capital Development Authority (CDA) on charges of allotting 24 plots of Rs750 million in Sector I-8 illegally. On the other hand, the CDA chairman has instructed the departments concerned to cooperate with the FIA and ordered the member finance of CDA Azhar Ali to conduct a detailed inquiry into the scandal, Dawn has learnt. An officer of the CDA on condition of anonymity said that the FIA team arrested Director Enforcement Naveedul Haq and shifted him to head office for investigation.
SWABI: Police arrested 67 suspects in a search operation launched on Monday after the bomb attack on ANP candidate Ameer Rehman in Razaar tehsil on Sunday. SP Mian Mohammad Saeed told this correspondent soon after the blast they decided to launch action against the suspected people. He said all the arrested people were being interrogated. He said the operation was conducted in Naranji, Parmulai, Sheikh Jana and surrounding areas.
KARACHI: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) claimed to have detained over 50 suspects during various targeted raids and operations in different parts of the metropolis on Monday. According to details, police claimed to have apprehended about two dozen suspects during targeted raids in various localities of Sohrab Goth including Jangal Goth, Faqira Goth, Lasi Goth and Al–Asif Square. Police officials said that the operation was conducted on a tip-off about the presence of criminals involved in various unlawful and terror activities in the city.
KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) police arrested three suspects from Surjani Town on Monday involved in several targeted killings and kidnapping for ransom cases. A number of weapons were also found on them, police said. The police was informed about the presence of criminals in Sector–7C, Surjani Town, after which a team raided the place, CID SSP Mohammed Fayyaz Khan said. The suspects opened fire at the police, however, but in the ensuing encounter, the law enforcers arrested three men, who were later identified as Zohaib alias Doctor alias Kashif, Ahmed Naeem and Mohammed Rehman.
KARACHI: Personnel of the Pakistan Rangers Sindh in a targeted operation in different parts of the city arrested six suspects and recovered six weapons and two hand grenades from them. A spokesman of the Rangers Sindh said that during the ongoing targeted operation against anti–state elements and criminals they were informed that a group of criminals was present in the outskirts of the city who were involved in heinous crimes.
KOHAT: The police arrested an impersonator and seized fake stamps of interior ministry from his possession on Monday. The police arrested the man from the car parking of local courts with possessing fake stamps of section officer of the interior ministry. The accused was identified as Shaoeb, resident of Islamabad. A case was registered against him. Meanwhile, unidentified robbers took away gold ornaments and prize bonds from a house in the high security zone on Sunday night.
KARACHI: The Darakhshan police have arrested Mohammed Shoaib, a teenage murder suspect who allegedly asked his private security guard to gun down his teenage friend after a brief quarrel over a girl. Officials said that the police after registering an FIR arrested the suspect though his private security guard managed to escape after the incident. “Both the suspects have been nominated in the FIR,” said an official at the Darakhshan police station.
PESHAWAR: Police have recovered a student and arrested three members of a gang of kidnapers. A police spokesman said on Monday a student of BBA Khalid Jamal had been kidnapped from Khan Hostel Peshawar on March 28, 2013 and later the kidnapers demanded Rs12 million for his release as ransom. The police following some tip-off conducted a raid at a plaza near Abaseen Flour Mills and recovered the student safely. Three accused, including Ahmad Ullah of Bajuar Agency, Hameedullah of Mohmand Agency and Sikandar Shah of Tarkha village, were arrested.
LARKANA: Four women robbed a jeweller of 12 Tolas of gold. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of the Market Police Station of the city on Monday. Reports said in the famous Resham Gali of Larkana, which remains as busy a bazaar as Tariq Road of Karachi, four women entered the Abbas Jewellery Shop. They expressed willingness to see and buy gold ornaments but went out of the shop without making any purchases.
